Many CalFresh households are also eligible for the California WIC program. Same day appointments with preference given to prenatal and moms with new babies are available every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. CalFresh is a food assistance program that provides food benefits to low-income households in California. Several sites offer evening hours and walk in services. WIC services are available at many sites throughout Marion County. Support is available to help mothers with breastfeeding. Fully or mostly breastfeeding mothers can receive an expanded food package. Once certified for WIC, participants receive benefits on a WIC EBT card for specific foods that they can redeem at any WIC approved store including milk, cheese, eggs, fruit juices, iron-fortified cereals, dried beans or peanut butter and iron-fortified formula for infants not breastfed.
